Voghera–Salice Terme Trail Section
Voghera–Salice Terme Trail Section
The Voghera–Salice Terme section marks the flat part of the Greenway at the foot of the first Apennine hills. The route starts in Voghera, near the train station, and follows the old railway to Varzi, curving southward to reach the Oltrepò Pavese hills.
This initial portion of the Greenway was completed in phases and officially opened to the public on April 11, 2014. The first 14 km are predominantly flat and intersect many country roads that form the rural network of a region still largely devoted to agriculture.
Of the nine municipalities crossed by the Greenway, this first section includes Voghera, Codevilla, Retorbido, and Rivanazzano Terme, reaching the outskirts of Salice Terme.
Except for the initial urban section, the route is entirely off-road and equipped with rest areas, recycling bins, bike racks, informational panels, water fountains, picnic tables, and wooden safety railings.
